Mangaluru, 25 Jul 2016: Mandd Sobhann, city-based Konkani organization striving to promote Konkani and its distinct culture worldwide, in association with Karnataka state Shilpakala Academy organized state-level Cement Shilpakala Camp at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar, here from Monday July 25 to Sunday August 7.
Daya Victor Lobo, renowned artist and proprietor – Akaar, inaugurated the camp here on Monday morning.
Mahadevappa Shambhulingappa Shilpi, the president of Karnataka Shilpakala Academy presided the programme in the august presence of Louis J Pinto, president of Mandd Sobhann.
Twenty artisans sent by the Shilpakala Academy will be preparing 15 works of cement art depicting the various Konkani communities. These statues will then be permanently placed and displayed at Kalaangann here.
The Closing Ceremony of the Camp will be held at Kalaangann, here on Sunday August 7.
Karnataka legislative council chief whip MLC Ivan D’Souza will be honoring the artistes on this occasion.
Mahadevappa Shambhulingappa Shilpi will preside the programme.
Roy Castelino, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy will be present as the chief guest and Louis J Pinto, the president of Mandd Sobhann will also be present.
