Mangaluru, 24 May 2016: In-charge finance officer and Professor in Economics at Mangalore University, Paul Alexander Rego passed away at a private hospital in the city on Monday following heart-related complications.
Rego’s (58) teaching career spanned over three decades and he was specialized in Quantitative Techniques in Economic Analysis, Econometrics and Agricultural Economics.
He guided five Ph.D scholars and two M.Phil. candidates; he also published three books and 12 research papers. After the completion of a minor research project, he was a co-investigator involved in major research projects sponsored by the UGC. He took over as in-charge finance officer on April 9, 2015.
PA Rego is survived by his wife and two children.
The Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT) mourned the demise of their colleague. Dr Norbert Lobo, AMUCT president stated that Rego was a dedicated person and performed his duties well.
The last rites will be held on May 25 at Our Lady of Dolours Church, Vittal at 3.30 pm.
