Udupi, 26 Nov 2015: We have heard a popular Hindi dialogue “Roti Kapda or Makan“ the basic most important needs of human beings. While Roti (Food) and Kapda (Clothes) can be managed in the current world, managing a Makan (Shelter) is not easy. While the prices of every item are rocket high building a dream house for a poor family is beyond reach.
The same situation was of a impoverished family of Yashoda Acharti residing in Nalku Bidi, Moodubelle of Udupi District. She was residing in a small hut provided by Antony Martis of Admeru. Yashoda Acharti had a dream of a good shelter for her and her family. Yashoda Acharti was residing in the shelter provided by Antony Martis for nearly a half century.
Mr. Antony & Mrs. Hilda Martis
The dream of Yashoda Acharti of a house picked up when government announced “ Indira AwasYogane” a scheme for building small houses for the needy. However, the amount of Rs. 1,20,000/- allocated under this scheme was not sufficient for a decent house. In this critical situation once again large hearted Antony Martis and his wife Hilda Martis came forward and donated 3 cents of land to this needy family and nearly Rs. 3 lakhs and the dream house of Yashoda Acharti and her two children costing about Rs. 5 lakhs was finally realized last week of October.
