Bantwal, 01 Aug 2015: The central Committee of Yuvavahini® chosen Bolwar Mohammed Kunhi, veteran novelist, story writer, playwright and recipient of several awards to award Vishukumar Award, instituted by Vishukumar Endowment Trust.
Mohammed Kunhi hails from Puttur, near here who has introduced the life of Moslems in Kannada literature. He is the recipient of gold medal from Mysore University and Kuvempu University in M A (Kannada). He has authored over 250 short stories and several novels.
He is the son of B Abbas Beary and Kulsum couple of Puttur born on 22 October 1951. He served in Syndicate Bank in different branches across the country and retired as officer settled at Koramangala, Bengaluru. He lives with wife Zubaida, daughters Mumtaz and Benazir. He acknowledges the inspiration that he got from Vishukumar authored novel ‘Karavali’ in 1971.
The award will be presented to Mohammed Kunhi by veteran litterateur Muralidar Upadhya during a function scheduled to be held at Birva Auditorium, Melkar, near here on August 9 afternoon. The award consists of Rs 10,000 cash, citation letter and memento.
