Udupi/M’Belle, 12 Jul 2015: Under the initiative and leadership of ICYM Moodubelle Unit, Melody Music Class was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church on Sunday, 12 July 2015 at 11.15 am in the parish mini hall by unveiling the Key-board and playing few notes on the Key-board.
Mrs. Vidya D’Sa from Shankerpura, the Music Teacher, Alphonse K. Alva-Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs. Latha D’Mello-Secretary, Vincent Fernandes and Rovita Fernandes-Animators of ICYM, Joseph Martis-President of the Youth Commission, Neville D’Souza-President of ICYM Moodubelle Unit, Miss. Felina D’Souza-Secretary and Macgreen Fernandes-organizer of the programme, ICYM members and a number of students and their parents and parishioners were present for the programme.
Introducing the Music Teacher, Mrs. Vidya D’Sa, Miss Roshal D’Mello said that born and brought up in Shankarpura, Mrs. Vidya D’Sa acquired BA degree in Music and Bharatanatyam from the renowned Sandesha Fine Arts Institution affiliated to Mangalore University. She also achieved MA degree in History from Karnataka Open University and B.Ed. degree from IGNOU. Mrs. Vidya D’Sa served as a teacher in St. John’s Higher Primary School, Shankarpura for 9 years. She also served as Music Teacher in Little Angels School, Belman and Vidyavardhaka School, Shirva. Since the last four years she has been giving her service as Music Teacher in Don Bosco High School, Shirva and St. John’s High School, Shankarpura. Mrs. Vidya D’Sa has also started her own Kushi Play School and Melody Music School in Shankarpura. Mrs. Vidya is married to Anil D’ Sa of Shankarpura who is a well-known singer and they have two children.
In his message, Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas citing an example from the famous film “Sound of Music” stressed the point that anyone can learn music provided they have some interest and practice. He appreciated the initiative and leadership taken by the Moodubelle Unit of ICYM in starting the Melody Music Class in Moodubelle.
So far 60 students have been enrolled for the Melody Music Class.
