Mumbai, 12 Jul 2015: The number of Kannada Schools in metro is dwindling over the years that are attributed to love for English and lack of appointment of teachers. The children of people hailing from Uttara Karnataka are studying in municipal-run Kannada Schools. The students should not have inferiority complex about Kannada, because those who wish to study can excel anyway, said Srinivas N Udupa, chief priest of Umamaheshwari temple, Jerimeri, Kurla (East) here.
Udupa was speaking during the simple function of distributing English – Kannada study books and note books to students of Kannada School, Kajupada, Kurla (East), at Sony Apartment, here on Saturday July 11 afternoon.
The local social worker and philanthropist Tonse Sanjeev Poojary, Mumbai University Kannada department assistant Dr Poornima Sudhakr Shetty, Bombay South Kanara Brahmins Association and Gopalakrishna Public Trust trustee R L Bhat were present at the dais.
Tonse Sanjeev Poojary welcomed the gathering. Dr Poornima compered the programme. Ravi Mendon Kurkal proposed vote of thanks.
