Udupi, 04 Jul 2015: The public toilet in the locality Belle market has been locked since 2 weeks for no water supply. The fishmongers in the nearby fish market had to sell their fish in the unbearable stench because of no water supply. The unclean fish market poses health threat and ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes. The customers pass the area with their nose covered with handkerchiefs.
Despite monsoon has already set in coastal district, the people living in the neighborhood of Moodubelle market that comes under the limits of Belle gram panchayat lies in Kaup legislative assembly constituency are anguish over the local governance for failing to supply water for cleanliness of fish market and public toilet. The customers to the market and shopkeepers had to go to nearby wooded area to attend to nature call.
The local administration has not supplied water to fish market since 1 month and one cannot move without covering their faces with handkerchiefs.
The borewell that was fetching water to the market has gone dry, owing to which the water supply to the locality has abruptly stopped. Meanwhile, the water sourced from nearby Geeta Mandir is being used for general purposes. The garbage generated in Belle market will be dumped in the yard at Padubelle.

The shopkeepers in the market are facing the dearth of customers who shun because of unbearable stench emitting from public toilet. The village council is supposed to supply water for cleanliness of public toilet on priority basis as it poses health hazard.
