Mangaluru, 10 May 2015: Ramakrishna Mission carried out Swacch Mangaluru for Swacch Bharath - cleanliness drive on fifteenth consecutive Sunday on May 10 at Milagres Circle, Hampankatta here.
The drive was inaugurated by in front of Wenlock Hospital by Raghavendra Prabhu and MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik, in the presence of Swami Jitakamananda.
Dr Satish Rao, Shubhoday Alva, Satyanarayana K V, NSS co-ordinator Vineetha Rai, Sri Suresh Shetty and other eminent persons were present at the venue.
Employees of HDFC Bank under the leadership of Prashanth U, students of Ramakrishna Mission Balakashram and other devotees and well-wishers of the Ashram took an active part in the drive along with civic workers.
The Drive began at Wenlock Hospital and the garbage in and around the hospital were cleared by volunteers.
The old bus stand near Milagres Church was cleaned and painted, thus was given a face lift by a team of volunteers.
The road divider in front of Taj Mahal Hotel had become old and dirty which was cleaned and painted and several posters having nice graphics with message about Swacch Bharath were pasted in order to create awareness among the public.
The road direction boards which had not seen paint for past few years and were not serving their purpose were painted for the benefit of the public.
