Bantwal, 03 Mar 2015: The paddy field was disused for nearly 20 years, whilst clearing the weeds, tilling and sowing began just 100 days ago. As a result of labor, lush green rice crop waiting for harvest.
Yes, it’s the rare experiment done in a disused paddy field located near Brahmarakootlu, besides Mangaluru – Bengaluru national highway 75. It’s the result of voluntary labor contributed by the members of Hindu Seva Sangh, Jumadigudde, near here led by progressive farmer Ulipadiguttu Rajesh Naik on 23 November 2014. The lush rice crop was harvested by harvester on Monday March 2, while Swami Gurudevanand of Odiyoor mutt and hundreds of people witnessed this marvelous achievement.
It has laid foundation for next green revolution in the entire state. Hindu Seva Sangh has been organizing rural games on silted-paddy-fields during every monsoon, while the mentoring by progressive farmer Rajesh Naik changed the landscape of disused farmland.
The rice saplings were planted during rural games on silted-paddy-field on November 23 2014, while rich harvest yield about 5 tons of paddy.
Rajesh Naik has plans to convert nearly 300 acres of farmlands into lush greenery in the district with the voluntary labor of local youth and women clubs. He has been successful in growing paddy in the barren land located at Brahmarakootlu on national highway 75.
The local high breed variety of Jaya rice saplings were grown, while Swami Gurudevanand offered motion for harvesting by the sickle. The local people were amazed by the bumper crop yielded by the voluntary labor on barren land. It has indeed laid the motion for next green revolution in the state.
