Mangaluru, 23 Feb 2015: In relation to the incident of a Jolly pic where a boy posed on the laps of five girls in a college at Suratkal, near here; a classmate of the same students have been thrashed after he was kidnapped from his house on Sunday February 22.
The youth Riyaz is being treated in a private hospital. Following the various developments in the incident, the college has suspended all 8 students identified in the pic.
The police sources informed that six youths have been detained in connection to the incident, but refused to divulge their names. They are being questioned and by evening clearer details may emerge, sources said.
Realizing the sensitive nature of this case, city Deputy Commissioner (law and order) Santosh Babu and Panambur Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravikumar have been camping at Suratkal police station to guide detailed investigation into the incident.
Kidnap
On Sunday at around 11.00am, two of Riyaz’’s friends, Ritesh and Vineeth came to his residence at Kana in Suratkal here and said he should remove the pic which is also making rounds in WhatsApp. They said they wanted to resolve the issue and took him out.
As the three were coming out of the house, a car came there, and Riyaz was allegedly forced into the car, which then sped away. He was taken to Muddanna ground at Katipalla, here where a group of around 15 persons were lying in wait. Riyaz was then thrashed and he was also allegedly made to remove his clothes and consume drinks.
The group of youths demanded to know the whereabouts of the boy who posed lying on the girls’ laps, but Riyaz said he did not know anything about him. The boy in the pic has been identified as Mohammed Swali.
Sources said that another car came there and took Riyaz away. He was then thrown out of the car outside NIT-K.
Suicide Rumours
Relating to the incident - the news of suicide of one of the five girls is also being spread in the social networking sites facebook and Whats app. On Sunday afternoon some miscreants have pasted the pic of one of the five girls involved in the incident along with the pic of another girl who has said to have committed suicide a few days ago and are spreading the message of suicide. Meanwhile, by thorough investigation it was found that no incident of suicide has been taken place by any of the students of the college.
Warning from Saffron activists
As per reliable sources the youth of the different religion involved in the incident were warned by the saffron activists questioning the closeness along with the girls. The youth who were close friends of the girls had ignored the warning and used to behave as they were before.
