Mumbai, 30 Jan 2015: Namana Friends Mumbai® that has been engaged in social and cultural activities since the past one decade in metro presented cultural extravaganza at Sir M V Vishveshwarayya auditorium of Karnataka Sangh Mumbai®, Mahim (West) here on Monday January 26 afternoon. It was presented in order to fundraise for renovating worship center of Mittabettu Barke family in Belvai, Karkal, Karnataka.
Akhila Bharat Tulu Okkoota president Dharmapal U Devadiga presided the programme.
Vidwan S N Udupa, chief priest of Umamaheshwari Mandir, Jerimeri, Andheri (East) here graced the occasion.
The award winning theater director Dr Bharat Kumar Polipu was the chief guest of the occasion.
The noted Tulu theater artiste and movie director Vijayakumar Kodialbail, Belvai – Narayana Guru Seva Sangh honorary president Narayan B Poojary, Karnataka Sangh Mumbai® honorary secretary Omdas Kannangar, entrepreneurs Karunakar Shetty Mala, Prakash Raju Poojary, Narayan Anebettu, religious celebrant Harish Shanti Andheri, Kannada movie actor and director Venugopal Shetty, Nagesh S Suvarna Tenka Yermal, Bharatanatyam artiste Vaishnavi Shetty were the guests of honor.
The renowned Vastu expert Pundit Navinchandra Sanil and advertisement and movie literature translator Avinash Kamat were felicitated on the same occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijayakumar Kodialbail said that Karnataka Sangh Mumbai® is center for arts. The natives of coastal district in Karnataka settled in Mumbai are generous and hope the good old days of their ancestors come again, said Vijayakumar
Dharmapal Devadiga in his presidential address said that Mumbaikars’ are devout religious. The ancestral abode is known for worship. Meanwhile, the opportune time has come for renovating the worship center of lineage family of Mittabettu Barke in Belvai, Karkal, said Dharmapal.
S N Udupa said that one got to go with the changed times. The age old traditional practices are near extinct owing to degeneration of undivided families. Although, there was acute poverty, the undivided families led happy lives. However, despite enough money at their deposal, the nuclear families are suffering that is tragic indeed. It’s the time to go back to root, said Udupa.
The theater troupe Mumbai convener Prakash Shetty Suratkal, Karnoor Mohan Rai, Karunakar Shetty Kukkundoor, philanthropists Gopal Poojary Dadar, Tonse Sanjeev Poojary, Dinesh Poojary and others were present.
Namana Friends Mumbai® promoter Prabhakar Belvai welcomed the gathering. The artiste Marnad Surendra Kumar compered the programme.
The award winning Bharatanatyam artiste presented special show, while the artistes of Vijaya Kalavidaru – Kinnigoli staged Tulu comedy play, Oikla Kaas Bodu, as part of entertainment programme.
