Mangaluru, 08 Nov 2014: Dakshina Kannada (DK) district MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the works on proposed Puttur Adarsha railway station @ Rs 1 crore are in progress and will be completed by December 2014.
MP Nalin was addressing the railway progress Committee meeting here on Saturday November 8.
MP Nalin said, ‘Since I have become the MP many developmental works in regard to the railway have taken speed. Constant follow up has resulted railways, the state government and the concerned local authorities to co-ordinate with the development works,’ said MP Nalin.
MP Nalin further said that the proposed Puttur Adarsha railway station will be ready by end of December. The pending works of extended platform and additional track will be ready by February 2015.
Mangaluru Junction to be upgraded to World Class and not Mangaluru Central
MP Nalin clarified that Kankanady railway station (Mangaluru Junction) will be upgraded to world-class under PPP model and not Mangaluru Central which was proposed to be 1 among 5 railway stations in the country to be upgraded to world-class railway stations and it requires minimum land of 100 acre and currently there is only 63 acres of land.
‘It’s Mangaluru world-class railway station upgrading work stands second in the country after one in Punjab and all this is because of the efforts of our railway minister D V Sadananda Gowda,’ said MP Nalin.
