Mangalore, 16 Sep 2014: The department of civil engineering at St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, here organized a formal inauguration of its Students Association – ‘NIRMAN’ and Engineers’ Day Celebration at civil seminar hall here on Monday September 15l.
Nitte – NMAMIT vice principal Dr I Ramesh Mithantahya was the chief guest of the programme.
SJEC designated-director Fr Ajith Menezes presided the function.
SJEC assistant director Fr Rohith D’Costa, principal Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, vice principal Dr Rio D’Souza, ACCE chairman Engineer Ranganath Aithal, resource person Engineer Anil Baligawere the guests of honour.
Assistant Professor Nalini Rebello and NIRMAN co-ordinator Manjunath B were present on the dais.
Dr I Ramesh Mithantahya garlanded a portrait of Sir M Visvesvaraya as a mark of Engineers’ Day Celebration and officiated oath ceremony.
Dr Joseph Gonsalvis in his address encouraged the students to become service oriented engineers like Sir M Visvesvaraya.
Dr I Ramesh Mithanthaya motivated the students to think in higher levels and to become extraordinary engineers. He also asked the students to practice logical thinking and to grab every opportunity that comes their way.
Fr Ajith Menezes in his presidential address spoke about identity crisis amongst ordinary citizens. He said that we have to create our unique identity through positive attitude.
After the formal programme, Engineer Anil V Baliga M, proprietor of Manjeshwar Techno Trades, delivered a technical talk on Durability of Structures using Construction Chemicals.
Nalini Rebello welcomed the gathering. Manjunath B proposed the vote of thanks.
