Udupi/M’belle, 02 Sept 2014: As in earlier years, this year also the ICYM Unit of Moodubelle organized various competitions for children, youth and adults on Sundays, 17 and 31 August 2014 in anticipation of the Talents Day to be observed on Monday, 8 September 2014 on the occasion of Monthi Festh.
Unlike earlier years, this year there was overwhelming participation from all the categories of competitors. The ICYM Office bearers and members under the guidance of the animator-Vincent Fernandes, Youth Welfare Committee member-Joseph Martis and Rev. Fr. Reginald Pinto conducted various competitions in efficient manner.
On Sunday, 17 August 2014, morning, Ward wise Quiz competition was conducted in which out of 23 wards of the parish 22 participated. Nevil D’Souza, Cultural Secretary of the ICYM conducted the Quiz Competition.
In the singing competition, the participants were divided into five categories-LKG and UKG, 1-4 standard, 5 – 8 standard, 9-PUC and 18 years and above. Altogether 139 participated in the singing competition.
In the afternoon ward wise competitions were held in weaving the coconut palms. In this competition also 22 out 23 wards participated. Similarly, competition in skinning coconuts with the help of large-sickle (koytho) was held in which once again 22 out of 23 wards participated.
On Sunday, 31 August 2014, Lucky Games were held for students from LKG to 10th standard. In the evening village sports competition was held in Lagori for men and women in which 18 wards participated. In this competition among men St. Thomas II Ward secured first position, St. Paul I Ward second position and St. Roque II and St. Anna II Wards third position. Among women, St. Peter I Ward stood first, Sacred Heart II Ward, second and St. Anna II and Mother Theresa Ward, third.
In the Tug of War, St. Roque II Ward secured first position, Sacred Heart I, second and St. Paul II and St. Thomas II Wards, third.
