Mangalore: New hanging bridge to be constructed from Adyar to Pavoor - Minister Khader

Mangalore, 30 Jul 2014: This is good news to all the residents of Pavoor, at the outskirts of city who were travelling by ferry boat to reach Adyar, especially risking their lives during monsoon season, across Netravati River. A hanging bridge will be laid @ Rs 3 crore in a few years form now. The hanging bridge veteran Girish Bharadwaj has been awarded the contract and Rs 1.5 crore has already been sanctioned by state administration in executing this project.
The state health minister and Ullal MLA U T Khader in whose constituency this hanging bridge will be laid gave the Eid gift of the hanging bridge to the people of Pavoor, here during the press meet held at Eden Club, here on Tuesday July 29.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister Khader said, ‘The hanging bridge was the demand of decades. It was delayed because the residents had requested for the pathway for two-wheelers on the bridge, but now the government has sanctioned the hanging bridge under the special grant from the Malnad Development Package.’
Dakshina Kannada district Congress Committee general secretary T K Sudhir and others were present at the press meet.
