Mangalore: MP Nalin Kumar urges NHAI officials to begin road works on Shiradi Ghat

Mangalore, Jul 29, 2014 : The repairs of Shiradi Ghat section of Mangalore – Bangalore national highway needs to be begun before December 2014, advised Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials.
MP Nalin was speaking after discussing the issue of undertaking repairs work on Shiradi Ghat section of Mangalore – Bangalore national highway, the progress in tender process with DC Ibrahim at district headquarters here on Monday July 28.
MP Nalin also advised DC Ibrahim and NHAI officials to prepare a proposal to begin additional train services between Mangalore – Bangalore, Mangalore – Hassan, Subramanya – Hassan, at the backdrop of closing the vehicular traffic on the stretch of Shiradi Ghat for six-month for undertaking road works and he would get the approval in the Lok Sabha during monsoon session itself.
For the time being, the pot-holes on national highway had to be repaired on priority basis. The work on four-lane conversion of national highway (NH 70) from Suratkal to Kundapur has been slowed down, resulted in inconveniences to motorists, said MP Nalin. He also instructed NHAI project director Sriram Mishra to complete the works within 2 to 3 months.
DC Ibrahim advised NHAI officials to begin the proposed flyover works at Pumpwell circle, here with a few modifications at the earliest.
NHAI executive engineer Nataraj, ADC Sadashiv Prabhu, assistant municipal commissioner Gopal Nayak, executive engineer Rajashekar, public works department (PWD) officers were present on the occasion.
