Udupi: ICYM-Moodubelle organizes Youth-Parents interaction- ’Yuva Ektar’

Udupi/Moodubelle, 27 July 2014: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) organized the first ever Youth-Parents interaction-Yuva Ektar on Sunday, 27 July 2014 from 9 am to 11.30 am in St. Lawrence PU College Hall, Moodubelle. Mrs. Hilda D’Silva, retired Professor of Economics in Milagres College, Kallianpur was the resource person.
Following the prayer service conducted by Miss Felina D’Souza and Rev. Fr. Reginald Pinto-Director of Sampada, Udupi Diocese, the Yuva Ektar programme was inaugurated by lighting the candle by Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes-Spiritual Director of ICYM who also presided over the inaugural function. Along with him Mrs. Hilda D’Silva-the resource person, Animators Vincent Fernandes and Rovita Fernandes, Joseph Martis-Presdient of the Youth Welfare Committee, Glen Joy Alva-President of ICYM, Moodubelle Unit and Kevin Britto-organizer of the Yuva Ektar were present on the dais.
The Animators, Vincent Fernandes and Rovita Fernandes along with Joseph Martis-President of the Youth Welfare Committee released the ICYM jersey(T-Shirt) and presented to Glen Joy Alva, President of Moodubelle Unit of ICYM.
In his brief message, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes appreciated the efforts of the ICYM in organizing the Youth-Parents Interaction-Yuva Ektar as it would facilitate better understanding between the youth and their parents. He pointed out the need to have strong value foundation among the youth in order to develop their personality and be useful members of the community and society.
The resource person of the programme, Prof.(Mrs) Hilda D’Silva spoke on the ‘Responsibility of the youth towards family and society’. She conducted the seminar in a lively question answer form which had good response both from the parents and the youth. She asked the parents and youth to be free and frank in their opinions about their children and parents respectively. The interaction between the resource person-parents and youth was spontaneous and quite helpful in understanding the role of both the youth and parents in family and society.
Rev. Fr. Reginald Pinto conducted the workshop of the ICYM members regarding the planning and execution of annual programme. The members were divided into six groups and were given a task. At the end their views and suggestions were articulated and written down regarding the vision, mission and objectives of the ICYM Moodubelle Unit. They also chalked out various programmes that they would conduct throughout the year.
Glen Joy Alva, president of ICYM Moodubelle Unit welcomed the gathering, Secretary Jovita Medonca proposed the vote of thanks and Gladson Alva compeered the programme.
The arrangements of the Yuva Ektar were made jointly by Kevin Britto and Miss Rinol Rodrigues.
