Udupi: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Samskruti Sammelan at Manipal form Aug 23 to 24

Udupi, Jul 21, 2014 : Karnataka state Konkani Sahitya Samskruti Sammelan – 2014 led by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy past president Kasargod Chinna will be held at R S B auditorium, Manipal, here from August 23 to August 24, said Kasargod Chinna.
Addressing the media persons at press meet held at Hotel Kidiyoor, here on Saturday July 19, Chinna said that the Sammelan will be held on Rastrakavi Manjeshwar Govind Pai stage in Dr T M A Pai Nagar, Manipal, here on August 23.
The Sammelan honorary president Vedamurti Chempi Ramachandra Bhat released the Sammelan logo here on Saturday July 19.
GSB veteran journalist, columnist M V Kamath will be the chairperson of two-day Sammelan.
GSB litterateur and artiste Gopalakrishna Pai, Jayant Kaikini, S M Krishnaraj, Puttur Narasimha Nayak, Padma Shenoy, internationally acclaimed artiste Bantwal Vilas Nayak, Anant Prabhu and others will be present on the occasion.
The Sammelan flag hoisting will be held at 10-00am on August 23. Twenty Konkani cultural groups will present procession at 3.00pm. The inaugural will be held at 5.00pm.
The felicitation of distinguished individuals for their extraordinary contributions to Konkani, literature and culture will be held. The Sammelan is an attempt to bring 42 diverse groups of Konkani, amongst Hindu, Muslim and Christians in one common platform in Konkani literary world.
Nearly 3,000 to 4,000 Konkani representatives from across the state are likely to participate in the Sammelan. The book stalls will sell Konkani CDs, Konkani food court, display of artifacts, poets session, cultural programmes by different groups on the occasion.
The Sammelan executive president P Amrut Shenoy, treasurer Mahesh Takoor, Sasibhushan Kini, Konkani Sahitya Academy former member B Pundalika Marate Shirva, Janardhan Bhandarkar, Narasimha Kini, Dr Nagesh Kamath, Nityanand Pai Karkal, Kamalksha Shet, advocate Madhusudan Nayak, B Anantaram Bhat Parkala were present on the occasion.
