Carmel Kutam, Bangalore celebrates the feast of Mount Carmel

Bangalore, 20 Jul 2014: Carmel Kutam of Bangalore celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on 20th of July, Sunday at Sadhbhavana with all jubilation and solemnity. Ref Fr. George Santhumayor presided over the Eucharistice celebration and preached a heart touching homily highlighting the role of Mother Mary in protecting and guiding the Christians in the footsteps of Christ. Good number of Carmelite priests from near and far participated in the celebration. 500 people from different parts of Bangalore  joined in the celebration and honored and thanked Mother Mary for her maternal protection. After the mass the scapular which is the sign of Marian protection was distribute to all those who participated in the Mass.

 

After the mass the Carmel Kutam in association with the Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy organized a cultural programme. Mr Dolphy D’cunha- President of Carmel Kutam spread the carpet of red roses to one and all. Mr. Ronald Castelino – President of Konkani Sahithya Academy was the Chief guest, Rev Fr. George Santhumayor OCD, Vice Provincial of Karnatak-Goa Province, Mr. T.J.Abraham anti-corruption activist, Mrs. Aida D’cunha, President of FKCA, Rev. Fr Jerald D’souza, Superior of Sadhabavana were the guests of honor. Mr. Ronald Castelino was honoured on behalf of the Konkani community for being appointed as the President of Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy by Govt of Karnataka.

 

 

Mr. T.J.Abraham enlightened the Christian community with his powerful speech to develop a social responsibility and to fight for the rights that is our due; Mr. Ronald Castelino enlightened the gathering about the importance of Konkani language which is our mother tongue, Fr. George highlighted the love we have for the language we have been speaking from our childhood and Mrs. Aida said we need to work hand in hand for justice. Mr. Vincent Miranda- Treasurer Carmel Kutam proposed the vote of thanks. Members of Carmel Kutam under the direction of Mr. Edwin D’souza & Mr. Herald D’souza presented a comedy act ‘Mutant Sakar’ which entertained the crowd to the maximum. And after the grace before the meal was said all the faithful took part in the sumptuous and tasty meal to shore the joy of the feast of Mount Carmel.
