Dubai, 16 Jul 2014 (Khaleejtimes): Dubai Police have confirmed that the deaths of the Indian film producer, his wife and daughter whose bodies were found on Tuesday are a collective suicide case, and the tragedy was triggered by financial woes.
The partially decomposed bodies of Santhosh Kumar, his wife Manju and daughter Gouri were found under mysterious circumstances in their flat near NMC Hospital in Al Nahda area on Tuesday.
The police said a cousin of Kumar had reported that the victims were unreachable since July 9. He said none of the family members was responding to calls. Following this, the police got legal permission from the Dubai Public Prosecution and opened the flat and found the bodies lying in the bedroom.
The forensic and CID officials examined the scene and primary investigation showed that Kumar had committed the crime due to huge financial problems.
The police found the door locked from inside and there was no evidence of any criminal act by an outsider. The police also found a letter written by Kumar. So the case was registered as a collective suicide. The bodies of the three were referred to the General Department of Forensic Medicines. The remains would be handed over to the relatives after completion of legal and administrative procedures.
Kumar, who owns the production company Souparnika Films in the south Indian state of Kerala, was a co-producer of hit Malayalam movies like Madampi and remakes of classic hits like Neelathamara and Rathinirvedam.
