The three hour intense workshop comprised of two sessions conducted by two admired Musicians Arun D’Silva and Ramiro Mascarenhas both of whom were in the panel of judges at the Preliminary round for selection of these 12 semi finalists.
The first part of the workshop conducted by Arun D’silva, involved audition of the 12 semi-finalists who have been already commenced preparations for their performance at the Semi Finals to be held on 26th September 2014. While Arun encouraged each Semi finalist to introspect her / his own singing performance, the other semi finalists were requested to give their positive feedback. This self as well as group evaluation of the singers was an unique way of inculcating professionalism in their existing singing skills. The positive feedback provided to each Semifinalist, was well received and encouraged them to put in rigorous efforts to practice, to be truly qualified to sing at the Gulf Level.
Arun appealed to the Semi Finalists to take up various voice training exercises that would inspire, boost one’s morale & take serious note of their weaknesses & various aspects of their voices while singing as mentioned below:
1. Singing Power
2. Extending one’s vocal range
3. Vocal Flexibility and accuracy
4. Developing ones Vibrato
5. Sustaining voice when singing
6. Developing a smooth voice
Ramero Mascarenhas through valuable examples, highlighted the importance of coordinating on facial expressions, actions and lyrics of the song. He stressed on the pitch control, breathing technique and accent / pronunciation of lyrics of the song.
Ramero further explained how ones conscious and sub conscious mind plays an important part in delivery of good singing.
