Udupi: Open well of 10 ft diameter emerges in paddy field at Shettibettu

Udupi, 15 Jul 2014: An open well with a radius of 10 feet opened up in the paddy field at Shettibettu that comes under the limits of Parkala, near here on Tuesday July 15.  The open well has emerged in the middle of paddy field owned by a certain Jayaram Tantri.  It may be recalled that a stream sprouted from the surface during the peak summer a few month ago in the same neighbourhood.
 
 
The paddy field was tilled by a certain Sasidar Poojary on Saturday July 12.  The rain water flooded the entire field, and the water is seeping through the fault zone that was formed in the middle of the field.

 

 
 
 
The locals suspect the open well was reclaimed in the past to convert it to be farmland.  The paddy field is about 1.5 kilometers away from Swarna River.  Nature’s wonders appear in several forms.
