Mangalore: Teenage girl commits suicide jumping from Gurpur bridge

Mangalore, 09 Jul 2014: In a tragic incident a teenage girl is believed to have committed the suicide after jumping into the Phalguni river from Gurpur bridge, here on Wednesday July 9.

 

The girl has been identified as sixteen-year-old Mallika, a resident of Chilimbigudde here.  She was the youngest daughter of Padmanna.

 

 

Sources informed that Mallika has alighted from an auto rickshaw at the bridge on Wednesday morning.  She jumped into the river within a few moments after the auto rickshaw left after dropping her.

 

The exact cause of Mallika committing suicide is yet to be known, as the locals informed that she had discontinued her studies for some reasons.

 

The local divers retrieved her dead body and despatched for autopsy at district Wenlock Hospital.

 

Bajpe police registered a case in this regard and investigations are underway.
