Mumbai: Nrityanjali Fine Arts Academy, Kandivali presents Bhakti Vaibhavam

Mumbai, Apr 16 : Nrityanjali Fine Arts Academy of suburban Kandivali here staged a thematic presentation portraying devotion intertwined with rhythmic technicalities at the prestigious Kala Bharathi stage set in the premises of  Karnataka Sangh, Matunga (West) here recently.

 
The two-hour presentation began with Bhakti Vaibhavam followed by Rudra Natyam in the second half. The songs were selected to give an insight on the margam without traversing through the adhered path.

 

 
The program began with the junior disciples performing to a famous Marathi aarthi - Sukh Karata followed by Srivigna rajam in Gambhira Naatai set to Khanda Chapu. The Kollatta was an energetic dance in folk style but which carried the essence of Bharathanatyam without compromising on the layas. The thematic pallavi of the Thandava Lasya in Aakashalingam demonstrated a complex and structured pattern of jathis which added to the vigour and energy of the dance. The performance concluded with a vibrant Jugalbandhi which was a typical countdown of beats in Aadi thallam.

 
The exquisite choreography was done by the director and Guru of the Institute, Revathi Srinivasraghavan. With a fine synthesis of both music and melody, the rhythmic composition by Satish Krishnamurthy was intricately woven into the dance keeping the sensibilities of its aesthetics.

 
Excellent music support was given by renowned artistes in their own right - vocal rendition by Sreedev Rajagopal from Kerala, Mridangam and Konnakol by Satish Krishnamurthy, violin by Shivakumar Anantharaman, flute by Atul Sharma and Ghatam by Shaktidharam.

 
Overall, it was an enthralling performance which held the audience spellbound.
