M’lore: Customs seize gold worth Rs 8 lac at City’s Int’l Airport

Mangalore, 14 Apr 2014: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport seized gold weighing 272.900 grams valued at Rs 8,02,326 concealed in the form of foil strips in the carton box, brought as checked in baggage from the possession of a passenger named twenty-three-year-old Mohammed Jabir Baikkara, son of Mohammed Kunhi, residing at Mahinabad House, Thekkil Post, Kasargod district of Kerala. Jabir arrived here by Jet Airways flight number 9W531 from Dubai on Sunday April 14 at 7.45am.
The operations were conducted under the supervision of Hemen Gogo, deputy commissioner of customs at Mangalore International Airport by a team led by Superintendents Prabhakar Poojary, H G Yogesh, B A Kariappa and Sendhil Murugan, and inspectors G Kumaraswamy, S Ranjan Behera, Santosh Kumar and Ankit Kumar, Halvaldars Varadaraju and Sowmya Naik.
