Mangalore, 8 Apr 2014: The play ’Kumsaracho Ghut’ (Seal of Confession) was presented by Catholic Sabha unit of Rosario parish grounds here on Sunday April 6, in order to create awareness on Lenten season and how the faithful ought to observe and also to support education of economically-weaker students of community out of the tithes.
Addressing the gathering, Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza said, ‘A priest should never reveal the secrets of any person’s confession, it should be held in confidence, at all circumstances,’ said Bishop Dr D’Souza.
‘When we hear the title of the play ’Kumsaracho Ghut’ we know what exactly it is about. We can gain God’s love and blessings through 2 Sacraments, Holy Communion and Confession. Confession absolves all your sins, it cleanses your soul,’ said Bishop Dr D’Souza.
‘We fall sometimes, and to get up we need strength and God gives us that strength. We have to love God and grow closer to Him,’ said Bishop Dr D’Souza.
Rosario parish priest Fr J B Crasta briefed about the preparations that went into the play, the selection of the artistes, adjusting sounds, creating publicity and making its effect on the audience.
‘This play is being presented to lay emphasis on going to confessionals for confessions for its spiritual and health benefits as it heals mind, body and soul. Everyone should watch this play and enjoy it. Confession should become a part of our life,’ said Fr Crasta.
Catholic Sabha unit president Antony D’Silva welcomed the gathering. Priscilla Sequeira compered the ceremony, while Michael Monteiro compered the programme.
Fr Francis R D’Souza is the playwright of ’Kumsaracho Ghut’ and directed by John M Permannur.
’Kumsaracho Ghut’ means ’Seal of Confession’. In Roman Catholic Church, the Seal of Confession (or Seal of the Confessional) is the absolute duty of priests not to disclose anything that they learn from penitents during the course of the Sacrament of Penance.
