Mangalore, 3 Apr 2014: The state health and family welfare minister U T Khader held a media conference at Hotel Woodlands here on Wednesday April 2.
Addressing the media persons Khader said that the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA, also known as National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) which provides a guarantee for 100 days of employment in every financial year to adult members of any rural household who are willing to do public unskilled manual work at the statutory minimum wage. The BJP has announced if NDA government will come to power the NREGA will be withdrawn, said minister Khader.
Khader further said that the NREGA Act was introduced to improve the living standards of rural people, who are living below the poverty line (BPL). Through NREGA semi and unskilled labourers can earn their living and be able to lead a respectful life and build a bridge between the rich and the poor in the country.
Through NREGA, bank account has been made mandatory to every employee. If such projects will be withdrawn, people in rural area will face severe problems. This is one of the agenda which the BJP has revealed, said minister Khader.
The minister Khader further said that in the upcoming LS polls, we need to elect an able leader who can think of the welfare of people in the district and solve the problems faced by the people. We have to elect our representative who can be our voice in the parliament. Youth should think deeply before casting their vote. We need a leader who can bring changes in the society and one who is concerned about the future of the youth and create jobs for them, said minister Khader.
The minister Khader also said that we lack political leaders to represent us in the parliament, the Congress candidate Janardhan Poojary is an able candidate to represent us because being a senior person he can understand the present problems in the society faced by the people. Dakshina Kannada district is renowned as a district inhabited by intellectuals and surely the people will cast their votes intellectually and elect a leader to represent the district, hoped minister Khader.
In politics, criticism and blame is common but in Poojary’s case, he always speaks about facts. People should understand the fact and vote for the Congress candidate. Rahul Gandhi will come to Mangalore for the election campaign; the youth will surely be inspired to elect an able leader in the forthcoming LS polls, said minister Khader.
When media persons queried about the recent clashes between party members in Ullal, rubbishing the rumours Khader said that none used any lethal weapons, it is just a rumour. In every party there will be misunderstanding between party members. We have called both Usman and Ishwar Ullal and sorted out their differences. All the party workers are now preparing for the forthcoming elections. There are none misunderstanding between the two now, everything has been solved.
M Kanachur Monu, Mitun Rai, Usman, Ishwar Ullal, Santosh Shetty, Melvyn and others were also present.
