Udupi: Yugadi - worshiping Mother Nature in Indian New Year; Pradeep Kumar

Udupi, Apr 2: Hindu calendar is the basis for all the auspicious occasions in Indian Culture. Yugadi is the beginning of New Year. It’s also new season for Mother Earth that yields all sorts of flowers and fruits. It’s also a new beginning for people to forget their sufferings and hope for good times ahead. Indian culture lies in rejoicing with Mother Nature for abundance of resources, said city’s renowned advocate Bellibettu Pradeep Kumar.
The advocate Pradeep was speaking during Yugadi celebrations that was organized at the aegis of public celebration of Ganeshotsav Committee, Mahila Mandala ® Shirva and Goods Tempo and Auto Rickshaw Owners and Drivers Association at Shirva, near here on Sunday March 31.
Pradeep further said that it’s tragic that youth are celebrating New Year on the eve of December 31, with booze and western dances and there are instances, they met in a grace accident on the road, and their family has to grieve their loss for their rest of life. The parents and elders ought not to be selfish and instill Indian cultural values among their children, cautioned Pradeep.
The religious thinker Padoor Dharmaraja Indra inaugurated the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Dharmaraja said that the auspicious occasions in Indian traditions are based on lunar. If divine blesses the efforts of one, the rewards would certainly come. He also prayed for forming an effective leadership driven union government in the upcoming LS polls.
Ganeshotsav Committee president K Sundar Prabhu presided the programme.
The auto rickshaw owners and drivers Association president Dinesh Bhat, tempo drivers and owners Association honorary president Kariappa Shetty were present at the dais.
The students of Vidhyadayini Higher Primary School, Kutyar, near here presented a Yakshgana play – Shwetakumara Charitre as part of entertainment programme.
The Mahila Mandala president Babita Aras welcomed the gathering.
