Abu Dhabi: ISC Organizes AaLap - Hindustani Vocal Concert by Pandit Upendra Bhat

Abu Dhabi, 01 Apr 2014: A solace to the soul what we call it was provided by PanditUpendra Bhat of Karnataka origin in his magical Hindustani Vocal Concert titled AaLap on Monday 31st March 2014.  The mesmerizing vocal concert was organized at the India Social and Cultural Centre Abu Dhabi which began at 8 pm amidst prominent dignitaries namely Mr. Sudhir Kumar Shetty, COO Global (UAE Exchange Centre) and Mr. Sarvotham Shetty (President Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha).

 

Pandit Upendra Bhat is a Hindustani vocalist and a senior disciple of Bharata Ratna Late Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.  He is popular today as a promising singer of KiranaGharana who reminds the listeners of his legendary Guru PanditBhimsen Joshi.  He holds a Master’s Degree in Music – Sangeetvisharad and SangeetAlanker – awarded by AkhilBharatiyaGandarvaMahavidyalaya, Bombay.  He is the graded artist of the All India Radio.  In 1996, on the occasion of the 7th Birth Anniversary of Saint Dnyaneshhwar, Upendra was felicitated for his musical talent at the hands of the Honourable President of India, Shri Shankar Dayal Sharma.

 

Pandit Upendra has been gifted with a well-seasoned, sonorous and pliant voice.  His classical renditions are marked by a systematic development of a raag structure, expressive singing and powerful taans.  He also excels in singing other musical genres like Ghazals, Thumris, Bhajans and light musical numbers.  He has several Marathi, Hindi, Kannad and Konkani songs in his repertoire and can easily delight any type of audience – laymen or connoisseurs.

 

 

The melodius concert began with a warm welcome accorded by Vindo Hon. ISC General Secretary and the artists were felicitated by floral bouquets by Hon. Entertainment Secretary.    The well attended musical lovers enjoyed the musical evening and applauded PanditUpendra Bhat for his wonderful numbers.

 

Prior to closing Mr. Sarvotham Shetty thanked PanditUpendra Bhat for providing wonderful musical concert to the music hungry audience of Abu Dhabi.  Appreciated and applauded him and his team members for the wonderful concert which will be remembered always and wished his all the best for his future concerts.
