Mumbai: Dr Mohan Alva conferred with National Kannada Ratna Prashasti - 2014

Mumbai, 31 Mar 2014: ‘The new generation of youth is blessed with high IQ, while the education institutions are empowered to strengthen the bond of students emotionally.  Even if the parents of students fail to bring their wayward children to the right path, those who govern the education institutions should not accept the defeat.  The education institutions ought to try their best to bring such students to the mainstream by creating positive environment and gently treating them to reform themselves.  Let us empower ourselves, to face the challenges of globalization and changes in education sphere, urged Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Moodbidri-based Alvas Education Foundation.

 
Dr Alva was speaking after accepting National Kannada Ratna Prashasti – 2014, by Karnataka Sangh Chembur ® during a function held at Karnataka High School, Chembur, here on Saturday March 20 evening.

 
Dr Alva further said that the educationists ought to know the difference between culture and entertainment.  The annual day celebrations are essential for education institutions, while it’s the duty of the society to enlighten the people on different facets of life.  One gets worried when the new generation of students are busy with facebook, whatsup, internet, skype, twitter, vchat etc, because they are likely to lose their perspectives in life.  At this juncture, what is essential is to be more humane in dealing with them for cordial relations, urged Dr Alva.

 
Karnataka Sangh Chembur ® president Jaya N Shetty presided the programme.

 
Vedamurti Pernankila Haridas Bhat, chief priest of Ambika Adinateshwar Mahaganapati temple, Vidhya Vihar inaugurated the programme.

 
Bantara Sangh president chartered accountant Shankar B Shetty, vice president Karnire Vishwanat Shetty, Bhandary Federation past president Kadandale Suresh S Bhandary and others were present on the occasion.

 

 
Jaya Shetty in his presidential address said that Karnataka Sangh Chembur ® that has supported the education of Kannadiga students living in the neighborhoods will soon have a Law College, said Jaya Shetty.

 
The executive Committee members Vishwanat S Shenava, Devdas K Shettigar, Ranjankumar R Amin, Sundar N Kotian, Madhukar G Bailoor, Mohan S Kanchan, Raju B Sanil, Chandrashekar Anchan, Jaya M Shetty, Sudhakar Anchan and Sanjeev Shetty, hundreds of Tulu – Kannadiga were present on the occasion.

 
Satish Poojaryn rendered the prayers.  Soumya Acharya presented the welcome dance.  The deputy secretary T R Shetty welcomed the gathering.  The honorary chief secretary Gunakar H Hegde proposed vote of thanks.

 
Akhiyonke Jorokonse – music troupe of physically-challenged artistes promoted by Sonal Productions presented musical concert as part of entertainment programme.  Suresh Poojary Irvattoor presented devotional singing programme, while the students presented variety cultural shows on the occasion.
