Mumbai: “Konkan Kalzam” Sakinaka celebrated Annual Day with Konkni Dabazo

Mumbai, 26 Nov 2012: On the occasion of their 23RD Annual Day celebrations, “Konkan Kalzam” Sakinaka presented a Musical Nite called “KONKNI DABAZO” on 24th November 2012 at 7.30 p.m., at St. Anthony Church Hall, Sakinaka, Mumbai.

 

The Association was found 23 years ago by the active Konkani parishioners under the leadership of Fr. David, Late Pintam Derebail and Fr. Alex Carvalho, to cater to the needs of social, cultural and liturgical activities of Sakinaka Parish. During these 23 years the association has organized several Konkani Popular Shows and kept Konkani active and alive in the parish. The name Sakinaka itself signals ‘Little Mangalore’ having very active Konkani Speaking Parishioners in Mumbai.  Youth and Children are well trained in Dance, Singing and Theatre in Konkani and the funds are utilized for the benefit of Poor and Needy Children of Parish for their education.

 

This year, they organized a KONKANI SHOW of well known Mangalorean and Goan Artists of Mumbai alongwith their Dance groups of Children and Youngsters. Artists like Rony Crasta (Mangalore), Betty Naz (Bandra), Anthony Tauro (Sakinaka), John Mascarenhas (Jerimeri), Carrie Fernandes, Noel, Rubina, Dildar singh ( who sang popular Juliana song), Edwin, Suchita and several other singers sang melodious songs of Anthony Tauro, John Mascarenhas, Joker Cassia, Mic Max alongwith other popular songs of Wilfy Rebimbus, Henry D’Souza, Remo Fernandes etc.

 

Nevertheless old and young artists of Sakinaka like Alphonse Crasta, Stany Salis, Sunil Fernandes, Alwyn D’Mello, Julie Fernandes presented hilarious skits and jokes.  Aelrid Crasta & Group, Veena Veigas & Group and little children like Wynona, Ashlita, Jenisha, Alvira etc., presented mind blowing dances with colourful costumes.  Benjamin Miranda and Troupe served sumptuous live music with Indian and Classical performance.

 

 

The programme began with a prayer dance followed by lighting of lamp by Chief Guest Mrs. Flora Denis Lobo (Director of M/s. Nashwin Electricals Pvt. Ltd.) and other Guests of Honour like Mr. Michael Fernandes (Social Activist), Mr. Noel D’Mello ( Prop. of M/s. S.N.Hydrosystems ), Fr. Julius D’Souza –Asst. Parish Priest and Director of Konkan Kalzam), Mr. Alex Monteiro (President-Konkan Kalzam), Mr. Lawrence Coelho (Divo Editor), Mrs.Suzan Coelho (Secular Citizen-Editor) who were present on the Dias.

 

Welcome address was delivered by Alex Monteiro (President), Association report was presented by Veena Veigas (Secretary) and  Vote of Thanks was proposed by Rajesh Rodrigues (Vice President).  Rony Carta, Anthony Tauro and Alphonse Crasta compered the programme in turn.

 

Programme ended with trio massala song, to which all artists and audience danced to the tune.
