Mangalore, 31 Jul 2012: No doubt the attack by moral vigilantes scarred the victims physically and emotionally, especially the girls. The attack has been so severe that one of the girl’s ear drums has been perforated.

The visual footage of Saturday’s incident shows that a girl being slapped hard on her left side of the head by a goon. The slap was so hard that the girl, who fell down on the bed, was lying and writhing in pain.

After she returned home, the girl had complained of buzzing in her ear and the parents had not given so much attention, because they were also under stress after the incident. The next day when she was taken to a doctor by a relative, the doctor said her ear drum had been perforated because of the trauma.

The parent, on condition of anonymity, said: Yes, she had suffered trauma and it has been diagnosed as ear perforation. Regarding whether he will lodge a complaint, he said: when it comes to investigation, my daughter will cooperate with the investigating officers. We will not file a separate complaint.’’

Interestingly, the girl was not in a mood to go for her friend Rekha’s (name changed) birthday party as she had severe bout of migraine. But her mother forced her saying that it was not proper not to attend Rekha’s birthday celebrations, as she had come for her birthday and also given her a gift. The parent also confirmed this. We are not blaming her. She has gone to the college today. It will take some time for us to come out of the trauma,’’ he said.

On the day of the incident, the family was in a state of shock. The family did not sleep for two days,’’ a source said. When they girl returned home, blood was seen coming out of the ears. The mother keeps on telling all that it is her fault that she forced her daughter to go to the party. Father was looking weak on the day, now he has mustered courage to put on a brave face,’’ the source added.

ENT specialist Dr Thahir Mohammed, who treated her, said: The damage may take six months to heal and the hearing loss could be in range of 20%-30%. I have asked them to get an audiometry evaluation to assess to hearing loss. He also said the girl has to be careful about infection as it may lead to permanent hearing loss.

The culprits must be punished the most available laws, that they will regret for their action for the years to come. The girls parents are typical indians who will never stand up for their rights, Mangaloreans will pay for the lawyer fees and all bills that is associated with this case. BJP, RSS, Sang Parivar all will pay a price for protecting and using these goons and this type of activities in Karnataka and elsewhere.
