Mangalore, 29 Jul 2012: Fear psychosis has gripped the city. Partying in the open was out of the question with the moral goons around. Now partying inside the confines of four walls is also likely to make the disappearing act in the city after Saturday’s incident.

The minute I came home, my mother told me not to attend such parties in future and I also promised her I won’t,’’ said a sobbing Rekha (name changed). Even I don’t think my friends will attend parties, other than ones called at somebody’s home,’’ said the engineering student.

Vijay Kumar (23), event organizer and DJ, who still is shaken, says: We will think twice while holding parties here. We will not stop partying, but it definitely will not be in the city. Gurudath Kamath, an MBA and is into event management, says: They robbed us of our chains, wallets and beat us on assumption.

Interestingly, it was a birthday party of Kumar which started at 2.30 pm and was almost ending. We were preparing to leave when these goons entered and beat us black and blue, merely on assumption,’’ said Vijay, who is still sporting black eye. All of us had informed our parents about the party. In fact some had their parents drop them off at the resort,’’ he said.

We were keeping our bags outside at 6 pm to leave the place. I saw the crowd gathering. When they entered I ran outside and jumped the compound. But the goons followed and dragged me by my hair all the way to the resort,’’ sobs Lavanya. I was lucky. I was put in a room and they locked it. I was out only when police came. They pulled Vinay’s shirt and pushed him on the bed along with the girls who were made to sit, to appear as if though something was going on,’’ said Rekha. For Vinay it is his second brush with the goons. They had gate crashed and stopped a party when he had organized a gig last year at a hotel near Yekkur.

All the 13 members, including five girls, were either students or had started working just after finishing their graduation. One of the girls was a police official’s daughter. We will definitely testify against these goons. We want them to be punished,’’ said Vinay. But the girls said: We have had enough for our life time. We don’t want anything more with this case.

Girls and boys do not be afraid. Do not stop your celebrations, just be careful and protect yourself. If you make statements like," you have had enough and that you will not party in mangalore, you are letting them win. You did not do anything morally wrong and you did not hurt anyone. So stay strong face these goons and fight for your human rights and justice.

I think for the next party they need to hire a few bouncers. I mean a few well muscled ones. The goons were just some skinny jokers who could only attack as a mob, but one-on-one they would not have a wee bit of a chance. Don t get scared carry on more partying, but don t forget to arm yourselves with a few bouncers and the goons will think twice. The police that showed up looked like they were unfed, skinny as the lathy they carried. One cop from here would have been enough to controll those goons. Keep the parties going and show them who really is a winner here. I think the public, as a whole, should go after these individuals one by one giving each one a busted ear drum like the girl who suffered one at their hands. An eye for and eye and tooth for a tooth is the best policy over here. The uneducated goons are trying thier intimidating tactics, and we we get threatened by that they are the winners. This reminded we of a video clip I had seen long time ago about how Taliban in Afghanistan treated women. Even in the animal world this does t happen. Shame on all those who support this disgusting behavior.

Shocking news...see the culprits pushing Vijay on the bed where the girls are seated to show that he was doing something wrong..what wickedness. They came only to molest the girls and to rob, because they cannot do that to their mothers/sister/wife if they have any. This should not stop they have to be terribly punished. Students/Victims pls get hold of a lawyer and see that u all get justice.

I am very sad about the statements of the girls To quote We have had enough for our life time. We don't want anything more with this case.Because of this attitude we will have many more incidents in the future perhaps much worse. If the girls and their parents came out openly and fought against this and brought the attackers to justice then perhaps we could have seen a different Mangalore in the future.

Moral policing without an iota of moral or any ethics. If the Government has got any principles of democratic values they must without bias punish the guilty. if not Mr Ashok and Mr C.T. Ravi must resign forth with.

Horrible, cant even think about it. These goons should be severly punished. They also made strip off and take procession in the city with hand cuff. The incident should be taken at national level and also so called jagarana vedikes to be banned under terrorism act. Media personel also should be made accountable for defaming the names of the girls and students.
