Moodubelle: St. John the Baptist II Ward celebrates the feast of Patron Saint

Moodubelle, 25 June 2012: St. John the Baptist II Ward celebrated the feast of their Patron Saint on Sunday, June 24, 2012. The solemn feast Mass was offered by the Bishop of Mangalore Dr. Aloysius D’Souza along with seven priests in the morning. The Bishop was on two daylong pastoral visit to Moodubelle.

 

The ward members assembled at the residence of Simon Mendonca at 4 pm on Sunday, June 24, 2012 to celebrated the ward feast.  Besides the ward members, the  programme was attended by  Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, parish priest, Fr. Lancy Saldanha, assistant  parish priest and Mrs. Tereza Lobo, Gurkarn of St. John the Baptist I Ward.

 

Following the welcome by Mrs. Gladys Rebello, Gurkarn of St. John the Baptist II Ward, Fr. Lancy Saldanha in his address  highlighted the message of St. John the Baptist.  As part of entertainment, Melisha Rebello conducted few spot games. As  the day happened to be the birthday of Mrs. Gladys Rebello and John D’Souza, they were given the honour of cutting the birthday cake.

 

 

Those students who had achieved distinction marks in their final examinations were honoured. Thes students are: Vipin Machado, who secured first position if PUC Commerce;  Melisha Rebello-Second in PUC Science; and Natasha Nazareth-passed in first class in SSLC.  Glen Larsen Rebello who stood first in the  zonal clay modeling competition was also felicitated.
Newly elected president of ICYM, Kevin Britto and  Mrs. Delma Mendonca who has joined as a lecturer in the newly established St. Lawrence Degree College, Moodubelle were honoured.

 

In his message, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes said that ward feasts enable children as well as adults to manifest their talents. He made an appeal to the youth to be progressive through education.

 

The entire programme was arranged with the active cooperation of the ward members. The entire programme was compeered by Mrs. Delma Mendonca and vote of thanks was proposed by the ward representative, Ronald D’Souza.
