Udupi: Man who Married Eight Women for Money Caught

Udupi, 09 June 2012:  It is said that managing a single marriage or at least to a single women is itself a big head-ache in the current economic situation.  However, there is one man who managed to get married to 8 girls by cheating and now has been caught and put inside in Malpe Police Station.  His name is Sukumar yane Rajesh (35) hailing from Kinnigoli of Udupi District.  How did he manage that, the story is very interesting.

 
As per the latest information, Rajesh has been getting married every year to each girl in places like Udupi, Kodagu and Kasargodu.  After getting the entire dowry in terms of cash and jewelry, he would dupe them and disappear and get married to another one and has been cheating every one since his first marriage.  It is also suspected that he may have got married to more girls which is yet to be revealed.  Believe it or not, he has recently promised and all set to get married to a brand new girl!!!

 

 
Working as a cook in the restaurants/Hotels he has been changing the jobs/restaurants frequently and wherever he got the job he would marry a new girl.  In his eight marriages, he has produced children for three girls and one is pregnant.

 
How he was caught??
 
His recent marriage was with a girl called Shuba from Ananta Wadi of Manni Grama in Dakshina Kannada.  The sad story he narrated to them was that he is very poor, having a small cook job and has no one and so on and got her married and stayed with her in a rented house for 10 months.    He has been very careful not to give away any indication of his previous seven marriages and lived with her without suspicion.

 
However, when there was a Puja (Bhoota Cola) in Ananta Wadi one of the attendee known to him learnt of his another marriage and told the relatives of Shuba that he has been married previously.  Learning this Ravi Chandra, brother of Shuba enquired with Rajesh as to his previous marriage.  To avoid more enquiry and danger of getting caught he left the job and disappeared for more than two months and never returned.  His mobile was always switched off and while leaving he had kept gold in a bank locker and had taken loan worth Rs.31,000 and left.   Having got suspicious Shuba lodged a complaint at Vitla Police Station and his photo was published in many news papers.

One of the girls Rewati from a place called Bengre in Malpe, to whom he had married four months ago saw his photo published in a May 17 news paper and recognized him as same Rajesh who cheated her after their marriage.  She immediately contacted the local community association ‘ Jaya Karnataka “   The Jilla President of Jaya Karnataka immediately got in touch with Shuba of Manne and her brother.  On the information they received from them, they went to Sullya and found him working in a resort, caught him and opened his mouth and revealed all his previous marriage episodes.   He has been brought and has been lodged in Malpe Police Station.

A simple Cook but a master Crook..
 
Rajesh a simple cook who got married to 8 girls and managed to convince their parents is in fact a handsome guy and very smart and a sweet talker.  He would only approach and select house of very poor girls and that too from his own caste, Billawa and less educated girl.  But managed to get enough dowries and used to stay in their own house and would spend their own money.  Once the cash is finished in the pretext of starting a new restaurant, catering business or going to Gulf for a job, etc.  would keep jewelry in the bank locker, get a loan and leave the house never to be returned again.

 
Once they learn of his cheating, they would search for him and eventually give up thinking that it is their miss-fortune and live in pain and agony and spend days in endless wait.

 
The girls who got cheated by him namely: Shuba, Rewati and Prema told their sad stories of pain to the media on Saturday and said “ they have been cheated and requested that no other girl should get cheated like this and also another man dare to cheat like this and very sever punishment must be given to Rajesh, even if they hang him also we will not be sorry, not a tear will drop from our eyes” they said.

 
However, now the case of Sukumara yane Rajesh is in Police hand, a proper enquiry should be held and witnesses to be gathered against him and putting him permanently in the jail is in the hands of the police.

This is very short list available now.  There is a possibility that he might have cheated many more girls for his sexual satisfaction.  Police have promised that they will open his mouth and get the complete details soon.  They also requested if any other girls are caught in his net, they should come forward and immediately inform the police.
