Abu Dhabi: Grand 35th Anniversary Celebration of Sunshine Cricket Club

Abu Dhabi, 01 May 2012: There are a few associations and clubs survive maximum five to ten years after forming. But believe it or not Sun Shine Cricket Club –based in Abu Dhabi, completed 35 years and still going strong.  The club members had a grand celebration recently beginning with a cricket match and grand 35th Anniversary Celebration took place at India Social and Cultural centre recently.

In its 35 years history the members would assemble at the designated cricket ground every Friday at 6:30am, be it sunshine, cold, rain or storm.  They simply loved to play cricket and succeeded in comleting 35 years.

 

 

 All Mangaloreans, irrespective of their religion, caste are members of this club which was established in 1976 in Abu Dhabi by a veteran Mr. Jerome Pereira. 

A special cricket tournament was held on 30th March this year to mark the 35th anniversary under the leadership of Salim Sheikh and Valerian Fernandes another sport personality of U.A.E and member of KCO and his dedicated team.  James Pereira spoke on the occasion and was happy to share his experience, and thanked all past and present members for their dedication and mainly co-operation all through the years.

Thereafter they had grand celebration recently in India Social and Cultural centre with their family members.  All the members were hounoured with mementos and trophies were distributed to the winners of the tournament.  Also many games and other entertainments were held during the celebrations and had good time..
