There were two parts involved in the seminar first being importance of preparing wills for U.A.E. Residence and how it will effect the Sharia Law of the country (U.A.E.) and the second part was importance of Wills in India covering mainly properties of NRI’s in India.
Mark said usually people are very hesitant to write the Will and some people think writing will means getting closer to death. He explained it is not the case and that only the aged people should write the Will but all those are employed in U.A.E and other Gulf countries should have a Will because one never knows when death comes and how it comes. He explained especially it is very import for all NRI’s as all benefits such as end of service, Gratuity etc of employee will depend on Sharia Law over here and absence of the Will probably would deprive of these benefits to his dependents. He gave example of many cases the dependents have involved in quarrels for the possession of money, property of owner upon his death and in many cases there has been unclaimed money deposited in the secret bank accounts. The " Will" he said solve all these problems and by writing the Will all the property and money will be equally distributed as per his wish soon after his death and also the employer in gulf will not have any problem to disperse the end of service to his illegible wife or children. He also narrated the benefits of the Will for the business people and how it can solve many complicated issues.
Mr. Robinson mainly spoke on Wills and their benefits in India and especially pertaining to estates, properties, agricultural land etc.
In the end they advise not to delay in preparing the wills and also how they could help in preparing the wills for NRI’s and how they shall be safeguarded and executed without any problems. The slogan of the day was: Thou Shall write will today and not tomorrow...

A very informative programme at Abudhabi. But Indians cannot write and keep the Wiil at Abudhabi, for the property in India and it is required to be registered in the jurisdictional Registrar of property , if at all to be proved to meet the purposes of the Testator. Else it could lead to a point of litigation within the family memebrs. |
