Shirva, 02 March 2012: Party workers should respond to the problems of common man at the booth level and gain their confidence, so that the party candidates can win all the 8 segments in the Udupi Chickmagalur constituency. Through the development works the party has to build. As the trust of people on politicians is reducing, the attempt to recover that trust has to start from now itself, said newly elected MP K. Jayaprakash Hegde to the party workers.

He was speaking upon receiving the greetings in the victory celebration organized by the party workers in Shirva Monis complex on Sunday. He said that, the MP’s fund will be divided equally to the 8 segments of the constituency and will be spent as per the priority. Jayaprakash Hegde thanked the voters of Shirva Grama where he received the maximum lead (more than 1,200 votes).

The program was presided over by former Minister Vasantha V. Salian. On the dias Kaup block congress President Gangadhar Suvarna, District Secretary Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, Kaup block Women Association President Geetha Wagle Bantakal, Kaup Divakara Shetty, Kutty Poojary, Jilla Panchayath Member Ida Gibba D’Souza and Mary D’Souza were present.

Haji Meera Saheb and Andrew Monis felicitated the MP on behalf of the Committee. Conrad Castelino welcomed. Prakash Shetty spoke in an introductory note. K.R. Patkar compeered the program. Sudir Shetty proposed vote of thanks.

JPH is not right: the trust of people on politicians is reducing? Voter turn out was 66% plus. 88% voted two of parties, who fielded professional politicians, bigger share to JPH. Compare this to 2008 US Presidential elections. Voter turnout=56.8%. The non-professional politicians. Point: JPH wants to get re-elected in 2014. More than gaining trust, important is for fulfilling his promises, working harder and getting results, while being without bias, fear and favoritism. That is minimum.

"Party workers should respond to the problems of common man at the booth level and gain their confidence" Rightly said Mr. Hegde. Looking at the political scenario at our state we can easily make out the lowest confidence level due to infighting, greed and power hungry politicians. It is time for Congress workers at the grass root to work for the common peoples needs and solve their immediate problems, such as land, poverty, electricity shortage, road construction, educational needs and many social needs of the people and gain the confidence to win votes in the future and most importantly for the development of their district to start with.
