Kuwait, 24 March 2012: After a week of dust storms in Kuwait, it was ‘Sunny skies, cool breeze, pleasant weather’, as one looked out of the window early morning. Being Friday and holiday, most of the people thought of going for an outing or picnic. As arranged earlier the Tulu Koota members and their families thanked the weather and organized the picnic at Mishref Gardens in Kuwait on March 23, 2012. After attending Friday religious services, families headed straight to the venue by 9:30am to enjoy a fun filled day of activities for adults and children of all ages.

Breakfast was served in traditional NammaKudla style by China Metro, Farwaniya, the option being Idli with Sambhar or Golibaje with Chutney.

Soon after breakfast, at 10:15am the flag hoisting ceremony was conducted by President of the Association, Mr. Ramesh Kidiyoor along with the Managing Committee.

Following this, all members of the association were enthusiastic to participate in the March Past, which was well coordinated by the Welfare Officer Mr. Suresh Sham Rao.

The Sports Secretary and Games coordinator, Mr. Faustine Pinto declared the sports events open by cutting the ribbon and releasing the white dove for the day.

Various games were organized by the committee for different categories of age groups starting from Children below 4 years (Passing the Toy), Children above 4 and below 6 years (Coin picking from the mud) and so on went the games. Lagori, Tonka and Skipping race, Kutti Donne, Sack Race, Throwball, Volleyball, Shot Put, Couple Cricket, Passing the tender coconut are a few to be named.

The attraction of all game events was centered on the year on year successful ‘Breaking of the Pot’, blindfolded about which everyone was enthusiastic about, the participants as well as onlookers. Any member who was willing to try hisr hand at this game was eligible to participate, the only man who met with success in this game was Mr.Pradeep Kenjoor.

Another game worth mentioning is the game of ‘Kabaddi’. Persons who are associated with different associations across Kuwait, especially sports events participated in this.

The day saw a generous man by the name Mr.Ibrahim Pinto who sponsored soft drinks for all throughout the day.
After a few games were played, lunch was served by Oriental Restaurant, Salmiya for the 800 – 1000 people that gathered on this day.

After relaxing for a while, Housie – Housie, Treasure Hunt, Tug of War games were conducted. The prize distribution ceremony was held at 4pm and by 6pm the event began winding up.

The day was joyous, time well spent with families and overall exciting for everyone who attended the picnic. All left the venue waiting for the next picnic.
