Moodubelle: Parishioners welcome New Year (2012) with Church Service and greeting each other

Moodubelle, 01 January 2012:  As the year 2011 was about to  end, the parishioners of Moodubelle prepared themselves to welcome the New Year 2012, by attending the religious service in the church and later greeted each other  in anticipation of the beginning of the new year at 12 midnight. 

 

Prior to the Solemn New Year Eve Mass, Holy Hour was observed  from 7 pm to give thanks to the Lord for all the favours received during the year 2011. Fr. Lancy Saldanha conducted the Holy Hour with meaningful prayers and hymns sung by the choir led by Br. Mahesh D’Souza. 

 

The Solemn New Year Eve Mass was celebrated by Rev. Dr. Lawrence D’Souza, Director of St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore along with guest priests from Belle- Rev. Dr. Paul Fernandes, Professor from Pontifical Papal Seminary (Jnana-Deep Viddyapeeth), Pune, Fr. Benjamin D’Souza from the Karwar Diocese, Fr. Charles Menezes, National Director of YCS and Fr. William D’Souza from Allahabad. They were joined by Fr. Joswey Fernandes, Fr. Paul Sequeira and Fr. Lancy Saldanha.

Fr. Paul Sequeira in his homily highlighted the role of Mary as the mother of Jesus.  He also said that as we enter the New Year, certain resolutions should be  our aim, the chief ones being  practice of patience, hope and honesty and negation of greed, arrogance and anger.

 

At the end of the  Mass, Fr. Joswey Fernandes wished the parishioners a happy New Year 2012. 

 

Soon after,  the Song Album “Vozram-Motiam” brought out by Mandd-Sobann was released by Rev. Dr. Paul Fernandes as part of the world-wide release of the CD. Neeta Rebello, one of the members of the Mandd-Sobann from Moodubelle introduced the CD to the parishioners and urged them to patronize the CD which was offered at concessional rate.

 

After the end of the church service, people were seen exchanging New Year greetings to their family members, relatives, friends and acquaintances.
