Belman, 27 December 2011: During this critical time for the Kannada medium schools which are getting closed one by one as the parents prefer English Medium school for their children, a girl who studied in a remote village govt. Kannada medium school, without any coaching classes, has secured B Com. 1st Rank in the university ahead of the students who studied in English medium schools! and has added another feather to the fame of Belman and Shirva.

The girl Seethalakshmi is the youngest among the three daughters of popular expert cook Vaidika Shridhara Bhat and Geetha Bhat. Seethalakshmi started her education in the Government Higher Primary School at Hosmaru near Belman, completed her High School and Pre University education in Belman Government P.U. College and continued her education in Commerce at Mulki Sundera Rama Shetty College Shirva and in the degree exams of Mangalore University conducted in May 2011, she has secured first rank.

When asked Seethalakshmi about the rank, she said that she is very happy, expected rank but the 1st rank was unexpected, she said. The college Principal and the Lecturer of Commerce Section said that they had expected the 1st rank. English language is inevitable for the future, but if the early education is done in the mother tongue Kannada itself, more knowledge can be learned and can have control over all other languages. But those who study in English medium cannot speak in Kannada and also cannot know English either, they said.

I liked Commerce subject very much and have the dreams to become a Charted Accountant and also have thoughts of KAS, IAS exams, says Seethalakshmi. The encouragement of the Parents, blessings of the elders and the studies with the interest and concentration has lead to the first rank she said. Let us wish the dreams of Belman’s Seethalakshmi come true and good luck to her emerging talents.
