M’belle: St. Lawrence PU College Celebrated Children’s Day

Moodubelle, 17 November 2011: Children’s Day celebrated in St. Lawrence P.U. college on Tuesday 15th November 2011 in the afternoon from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. The program was presided over by Vinyas Pai - 8th Standard Student. The gusts present on the dias were; Hilda Aranha - Senior High School Teacher, Shilpa Nayak – President of Parents Teacher Association, Charles Quadros, Rev. Fr. Paul Sequiera - Principal of St. Lawrence P.U. College, Kum. Priya Shetty - High School Leader and Ivan Lobo - College Leader.
On the occasion of Children’s day, various competitions were organized for the students. In the competitions held in Ajjarkad grounds 17 students from St. Lawrence P.U. College had participated and among them Deril D’Silva won 3rd prize in Discus throw and Stanish Lophez won 3rd prize in 800 meter race. In the camp held on 13th and 14th November at Vivekananda Engineering College St. Lawrence P.U. College students Vinayaka Nayak, Sandeep S. Prabhu, Ranjith, Sudha Nayak, Poorna Nayak, Melisha F. Rebello and Divya Nayak had participated. All of them were given certificates and were honoured.
Speaking on the occasion Hilda Aranha said that, Jawaharlal Nehru had beautiful dreams for the development of the country and he has been the role model for the children. His objectives can be followed by the children. The future is in the hands of the children, who are the young buds today and should blossom and spread the fragrance everywhere. Parents give money to children whenever they ask and the children may not know the value of money, which will sometimes get them into bad habits. So the children needs to be guided properly in the young age itself, she said.
Shilpa Nayak spoke and said that, the children should not use mobile phones. Using mobile phone will waste a lot of time and the time is most valuable. Every minute has to be used for the good work, she said. Vinyas Pai in his presidential address said that, just celebrating the children’s day is not good enough, the idealism of it has to be adopted into our lives and we should be an example to others. Also, we need to give our respect to the good and able leaders, he said.
Charles Quadros had arranged lunch for the students in memory of his parents Late Mathaias Quadros and Late Angaline Quadros. The program was compeered by Kum. Smitha. Latha D’Mello – Member of Parents Teachers Association welcomed the guests and the gathering. Sunitha – Member of Parents Teachers Association proposed vote of thanks.
