New Delhi, 11 November 2011: Union Railways Minister Dinesh Trivedi on Friday announced new rules for booking Tatkal tickets.
According to the new announcement, tatkal tickets can now be booked only 24 hours before the commencement of railway journey.
Travel agents who constantly keep an eye on the status of tickets have also been barred from booking tatkal tickets between 8 am to 10 am. The move has been initiated by the Railway Ministry to curb black-marketing in the sale of tickets.
The Railway Ministry has also announced that CCTV cameras would be installed before tatkal counters so that misuse of tickets can be curbed.
The new tatkal rules, which would be implemented within a week, also say that no duplicate ticket would be issued if the tatkal ticket is lost. Moreover, in a bid to avoid proxy booking, no money would be refunded in case a passenger cancels a confirmed tatkal ticket.
