Udupi, 03 October 2011: The negligence of the media on the wildlife photography, the restricted law of forest department and the photographer’s lack of interest has caused lagging behind of the wildlife photography field, said senior Environmental Scientist Dr. N.A. Madhyasta. He was speaking upon inaugurating the emerging wildlife photographer Raghavendra Kodam’s Focus – Wildlife Photography Exhibition in Udupi organized by Colour Coordination for Art and Culture, on Monday.
Speaking further Dr. Madhyasta said that, the wildlife photographers such as Hanumatha Rao, Perumal, Ghorpade, Allama Prabhu, who were ruling the field are no more to be seen. Lack of encouragement from the media and the restrictions from the forest department are the reason for this, he said. Wildlife photographer need lot of patience. Besides attention is required on the health care and also the safety. Wildlife photographer has to keep quiet in the jungle, but has to keep his eyes, ears and nose always open. This photography demands lots of giving, but it will not come back. But the happiness and the satisfaction one cannot get from elsewhere, he shared his experiences.
Chief Guest senior photographer Guru, A. Eshwarayya speaking on the occasion said that, at one time in place like Udupi tigers could be seen in broad daylight. But today only the street dogs can be seen. Behind this is the destruction of humans, he said. The wildlife photographers should begin to record the wildlife now itself, otherwise very soon the forest will be lost and there will be only the mines and factories remains for the photography, he said.
When a wildlife photographer go to the forest, he should go with a mindset of a child, then he can have new experience each time. One has to come out of the frame of a photographer, then only the real pleasure can be felt, said Eshwarayya. Another guest of the program, D.K. District Photographer’s Udupi President Shridhar Shettigar conveyed his best wishes. Colour Coordination Director Alevoor Dinesh Kini welcomed, Raviraj Valambe compeered the program. Photographer Raghavendra proposed vote of thanks.
