Belman, 11 September 2011: The road from Belman town to Shirva about 100 meter length is completely out of shape and at least about 75 meter is like a muddy field. Every day hundreds of vehicles travelling from Belman to Shirva, Katapadi pass through this road. It has got ponds in which the two wheelers such as scooters, scooty, cycles and even Maruthi 800 can have a complete dip. School – college students and pedestrians do not have any other way to go. Every day the mud sprinkling! Heavy vehicles such as buses, lorry – tippers make circus…. These are the daily scenes there.

People’s representatives pass through closing their eyes….! Pedestrians… small vehicle drivers pass through struggling and cursing…. these have become daily routine. The two wheelers getting skid in this road and the riders having a rollover in the mud has become a daily scene here. There are no gutters for the rain water to drain from the road…. With the pouring rain the roads have converted into rivers…! No one knows when will be the end to this muddy play!

The condition of Padubidri – Karkala road is still worse…! Coconut saplings can be planted in every pond on the road….! When will these roads be fixed….? This area belongs to Kaup constituency… our MP is now the Chief Minister of Karnataka… can the cry of the common man reach to the concerned through the people’s representatives…?

As a good gesture Shrikshethra Dharmastala Gramabhivradi Yojane Swsahaya teams involved themselves in temporarily closing these ponds on Saturday, thus informing the concerned on the plight of these roads. Those involved in this were Durgashree Swsahaya team, Ohmkara Swsahaya team, Belman and Punaru Shastavu Swsahaya team, led by Panchayath member Geetha Prabhu, Hema and Shankar Achar. The contribution and service of these teams were appreciated by the vehicle drivers and Grama Panchayath President Mallika Rao.

Look at the two students walking on the "road". Anyway, we need to sincerely appreciate work of Shrikshetra Dharmastala Gramabhivradi Yojane Swahaya teams. Though it may not help, if there is a heavy rain, never the less, the gesture needs to be appreciated.

I appreciate the social work by the people. But it is a case to be protested before the MLAs of the area, for their disrespect for the problems. Promising better roads they have provided these roads is indicative of peoples tolerance. The government has misappropriated the funds granted and Kaup MLA has been concentrating only the coastal area. The voters must gherao him and teach him a lesson so that interior roads are kept up thoroughly attended by the concerned departments.Draw the attention by pullng up the leaders who distribute money for votes!

I sympethise with the public of the place who are like dumb and mute? they simply kept quiet all these days hen the roads were so bad? where are the leaders who promised better roads and mis managed the funds granted by the Centre. All the while indulge in defaming the centre and doing nothing? where is kaup MLA? is he concerned about his own coastal area? gherao and ask him for explaining the reasons. It is too much tolerence. tomorrow these MLAs will make you do even contribute and repair roads, having swallowed the grants. be aware. You have shown the spirit of service is appreciated but never do your self get it done.
