Palli: Parents, School and Locals mourn the death of teenager

Palli, 26 July 2011: Prasad D. Shetty, a teenager of 14 years died due to injuries on Tuesday morning. He was the only son of Dinesh and Pramila Shetty of Palli. His father was working in Mumbai before, but due to ill health of his parents, all of them settled down at their home town Palli, and Prasad continued his studies at St. Lawrence English Medium High School Moodubelle, in 9th standard.
On 21st July, Prasad had a fall and had injuries, but he did not inform at his home about it. With the pain from the injuries he had fever, so his parents took him to a clinic in Moodubelle and from there they took him to Gandhi Hospital in Udupi for further treatment. He was given treatment and put bandages to the injuries of his hand and legs.
But nobody knew about the internal injuries he had at the chest, due to which he vomited blood on Monday night. Immediately in the night he was taken to the nearest hospital in Palli, but he passed away on Tuesday morning. His family who were already living in poverty and their only hope was their lone son Prasad and now his passing away has shocked them and are unable to bear the grief.
Rev. Fr. Lancy Saldanha – Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium High School Moodubelle, Teachers, Students, Staff, Devdas Hebbar – President of Taluk Panchayath, Ida Gibba D’Souza – Jilla Panchayath Member, Members of Local Panchayath and people of the neighbourhood visited the grieving family and expressed their condolences.
The High School mourned the death of its student and declared holiday to the school on Tuesday. When this reporter asked the Principal and the teachers about Prasad, they said that he was average in the studies and his conducts were good.
