Six crores sanctioned for the development of Katapadi Shri Vishwanatha Kshetra

Katapadi, 11 May 2011: The District rally of the Billava community was held on Sunday, May 8, 2011 in the premises of Katapadi Shri Vishwanatha Kshetra under the aegis of the Katapadi Shri Vishwanatha Kshetra, Brahmashri Narayanaguru Seva Samithi during which the developmental activities of the Shri Vishwanatha Kshetra. Former central minister, B. Janardhana Poojary who presided over the rally announced the sanctioning of 6 crores of rupees for the developmental activities. The Sadguru of Shri Ramakshetra at Dharmasthala, Shri Brahmananda Saraswati Swamiji gave the Ashirvachana.
The eminent personalities present during this occasion included: Oscar Fernandes, the Rajya Sabha member, DV Sadananda Gowda, MP from Udupi, Lalaji R. Mendon, the MLA of Kaup, K. Raghupati Bhat, MLA of Udupi, J.D. Nayak. Blossom Fernandes, Vinayakumar Sorake, Kota Srinivasa Poojary-MLC member, V Sunil Kumar, P Basavaraj, Katapadi Shankara Poojary-President of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Jay C. Suvarna, Mumbai-President of National Billava Mahamandal, Navindchandra D Suvarna- President of the All India Billava Union, Suresh Poojary-President of Mumbai Billava Jagruti Balaga.
Ashok M. Suvarna-President of Katapadi Shri Vishwanatha Kshetra welcomed the guests. Temple Development Committee President-Vasant V. Salian gave the introduction and Harischandra Amin, the Honorary Secretary of the committee proposed the vote of thanks.
Prior to the Udupi District Billava Rally at Katapadi a grand procession with Nasik Band and chende was organized through the Katapadi town till the temple of Shri Vishwanatha. Nearly ten thousand people participated in this procession. The Sadguru of Shri Ramakshetra at Dharmasthala, Shri Brahmananda Saraswati Swamiji was taken in procession on a decorated ratha with the honour of ‘Poornakumbha’. The dignitaries and other prominent members of the Billava community also participated in the grand procession which also witnessed the dance by huge dolls (Gombe Kunitha). The precisionists maintained exemplary discipline.
