St.Mary’s English Medium School Kannarpady hosts AICS Annual Conference 2017

Udupi, 12 Oct 2017: The annual conference of AICS [Association of ICSE and CBSE Schools of Udupi and South Canara districts] was held in St.Mary’s English Medium School Kannarpady Udupi on 9 and 10 October 2017. Around 213 principals and senior teachers across the twin districts of Udupi and South Canara attended this magnanimous educational conference. St.Mary’s English Medium School, being the member of AICS hosted this conference with devoted efforts and zealous passion. The biggest ever knowledge sharing platform witnessed the scholarly intercourse by eminent resource people from varied specializations. The two days conference revolved around the theme ’Timeless Leadership’ being contributed by many leadership oriented sub themes corresponding to it.

 

The conference was inaugurated by Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop Udupi Diocese and President of Catholic Educational Society, Udupi .He stressed during his inaugural speech the need for developing the qualities of self esteem, service mindedness and deep sense of social responsibility to be the competent Timeless Leaders. Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, the correspondent of St.Mary’s Educational Institutions, Udupi gave a bird view of host school’s efforts in organizing this educational conference and extended heartfelt welcome to all the invitees during his introductory remarks. Ms Joy J Rai, the President of AICS and the Principal of Canara High School, CBSE Mangaluru extended a cordial welcome to all the dignitaries and delegates. The special guest Ms Aarti Rajaratnam, the Master practitioner and Trainer in Neuro linguistic Programming, Salem presented her Keynote address. She expressed her philosophical insights to elaborate the theme ’Timeless Leadership’ and appealed to focus on the emotional wellbeing of student community by identifying the uniqueness of each child. Ms Myrtle L F Lewis, the principal of  the host school proposed the vote of thanks.

 

The eminent resource people handled different sessions during the two days to explore the different possibilities of ’Timeless Leadership’.

Day 1: Ms Aarti Rajaratnam spoke on ’Resonant Leadership’. Dr Simon George, Dean Academics, TAPMI Manipal  presented his valuable thoughts on the topic ’ Leader as a problem solver’. Dr A M Narahari, the Registrar, St Aloysius College Mangaluru shared his thought provoking ideas on the topic ’Teacher as a Resourceful facilitator’. Dr T J Quadros, the immediate past president of AICS and the Principal of Glowinstar Integrated School, Udupi synopsized the events of the first day and reminded the delegates the need to sharpen their sensitivity towards students.

 

Day 2: Mr Vidyavantha Acharya, the Principal Sharada Residential School, Udupi welcomed the gathering on second day. Ms Jyotsana Dhillon, the organizational Psychologist and Management consultant from Pune sensitized the audience on the topic ’ Every Child Matters’. Dr Jose C C, the Professor, Dept of International Studies and History, Christ University Bengaluru conducted a very interesting activity oriented session on  the topic’ Relationship oriented Leadership’. Mr Nakul Shenoy, the mind reader and Design consultant from Bengaluru enlightened the audience on the ’Social media and Leadership’.

 

Dr.Vinod Bhat , the Vice Chancellor Manipal University was the chief guest of the Valedictory programme. He focused on the vital role of teachers and administrators in humanizing the educational system and bringing reformatory changes in society. Prof Mathew Nainan, the Director of Little Rock Indian School Brhamavar presented his remarks on the proceedings of two days conference and critically analyzed the burning issues  of present day education system. Rev.Dr. Fr Lawrence D’Souza, the Secretary Catholic Educational Society Udupi gave his concluding remarks by emphasizing  the need of skill enhancement and knowledge up gradation among the teachers. Fr Anil D’Costa ,the tressurer of AICS and the Principal of Trinity Central School, Perampalli, Udupi welcomed the invitees. Ms Eliza Vas ,the Secretary AICS and the Principal of Christ School Manipal delivered the words of gratitude. The Conference was officially concluded with High Tea.
