Bengaluru: High Court upholds death penalty for murderer of four, Ramesh Naik

Bengaluru, 23 Sep 2017: Karnataka High Court upheld the verdict of Puttur sessions court and announced death sentence to Ramesh Naik for murdering four including his two children in two separate incidents reported in June, 2010.
The convicted had been serving as a manager at a private bank in Sollapur of Maharashtra when he became a murderer of four. Ramesh Naik reached Tumkur from Sollapur on June 15, 2010 and murdered his mother in law, Saraswathi and his sister in law Savitha at their residence in Banashankari of Tumkur town. He threw the two dead bodies into a lake in the city and moved to his wife’s residence located in Mangaluru city.
As per his plans, he reached Mangaluru and murdered his two children Bhuvan (10) and Kruthika (3) when the trio where on their way to his native place, Ardhamoole located in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district. He threw the dead bodies of his two children into water soon after the crime.
Meanwhile, wife of the convict, Sundari registered a police complaint after her children went missing from her residence as Ramesh brought his children in her absence. Based on the complaint, the police questioned the car driver and later arrested Ramesh Naik who was also preparing to end his life at a lodge in Puttur town.
Ramesh Naik was interested to have an affair with his sister in law Savitha. However, he decided to murder her after she rejected his proposal as she had intended to marry someone else.
