Puttur: Parents have key role in guiding children at hi-tech era - Fr Jerome

Puttur, 01 Sep 2017: The annual general body meeting of Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of St Philomena College was held at their auditorium, here on August 30.
The principal of Sacred Heart Pre-University College, Madantyar - Fr Jerome D’Souza was the chief guest. He delivered a special talk on the topic ‘Role of parents in all-round development of the students’. He said, ‘At present, the students are attracted towards various types of technical gadgets. It has adversely affected the academic performance of the students. The parents have vital role to play in making their children to move in right direction.’
The campus director Fr Dr Antony Praksah Monteiro participated as the guest of honor. He said, ‘Teachers, parents and educational institutions play a significant role in determining the performance of the students.’
The correspondent Fr Alfred J Pinto delivered his presidential address.
On this occasion, the head of department of Hindi and vice principal Professor Vishnu Bhat S was felicitated on his superannuation.
Varija M and group presented the prayer song. The PTA president chartered accountant Gangadhar P welcomed the gathering. The principal Professor Leo Noronha delivered preliminary address. The secretary Edwin D’Souza presented the annual report. The treasurer Premalatha K presented the annual accounts. The head of department of commerce Professor Maxim Carl conducted the election for various posts of new office bearers.
The head of department of mathematics Professor Udaya K gave the details of parent-teacher-student interaction session. The joint secretary of PTA Vinaychandra proposed the vote of thanks. The Assistant Professor Dr Basthyam Pais compered the programme.
